Announcing our Spring Scholarship Winner: Sophia Styles from Schoharie High School

Sophia Styles is a senior at Schoharie High School and is this year’s recipient of the Schoharie Valley Singers “Frances B. Tripp Memorial Fund Scholarship.” Sofia will receive her award at the Singer’s concert on Friday May 3rd when she will be performing with the group and she couldn’t be more excited.
Sophia plans on attending Buffalo State University in the fall for Music Education, and hopes to minor in some kind of visual art. Sophia sings in every ensemble she can be a part of, takes voice and piano lessons, and absolutely loved playing Mary Poppins in this year’s high school production. She attended All State Mixed Chorus this past fall and was also able to perform an SSAA arrangement of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” at Carnegie Hall. Last summer, Sophia also had the privilege of taking part in Albany ProMusica’s International Choral Festival in Ontario. In her free time you can find Sophia listening to Indie Rock and Jazz, hanging out with friends and family, crafting, and catching up on her favorite TV shows.”
Any high school senior from the Schoharie area can apply for the SVS scholarship. Information about the 2025 scholarship will be available this fall!
